Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.
Event Details
As we have done for 74 years we will pay tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our community.
PARADE PARTICIPATION
• The parade launches and returns to the Mobile Civic Center parking lot.
• Rolls rain or shine (unless there is a hurricane)
• Line up begins at 8:45 AM & Parade begins at 9:45 AM.
• Position is decided on a first come first serve bases. All floats must be loaded BEFORE entering the line. Either bring the float
pre-loaded or pull off the fenced area to load. This is for safety and efficiency. Rick Lambert will direct floats to the correct area.
• Spouses, significant others, other family members, and children are welcome.
• We ask each union to wear one of their union shirts. This helps the community see the various unions in our community and
shows our union pride.
OTHER SUGGESTIONS
• Many of the unions have retired members that cannot walk the parade route, please make sure you have seating on the float or
have a vehicle to transport them.
• September can be particularly hot. Please provide your members with water. Other beverages are welcome as well.
PAPER PRODUCTS
Parading Unions may purchase union made paper products from
Dees Paper Company Inc. Unions may order it by calling 251.666.4885.
PARADE ROUTE
From Civic Center the parade goes down Civic Center Drive to Government Street to Royal Street to St. Francis around Bienville Square to Conception to Government back to Civic Center Drive and ends at the Civic Center.
